I am drawn to exploration. I resonate with those who seek.
How did we become what we are? Where the “regular” is being disconnected from nature, glued to screens, fat, lazy and unmotivated. Where those who explore and test the limits of what’s possible are the freak shows and outcasts. What have we become?
I cannot relate to those who find comfort in a cubicle. Who do not have ambitions so large they struggle to contain it within their being. How is this new “normal” ok? Why do we give a free pass for those who choose to chase less?
What do we become when we lack the ability to want more? When we give up autonomy, when we follow the norm and bury our creativity. What does that makes us? Shit. It makes us shit.
I find myself fading when I attempt to entertain interactions with the mundane. I don’t give two fucks about your coworker Janice that i’ve ever met and never will meet and her sick cat.
Tell me about the last time you almost died doing something outlandish.
Tell me about when you built a business, chased the boy/girl, got punched in the face, tasted your own blood, fought for what you believe in. Tell me when you lived.
We are not all the same.
There are those who spend their existence damaging and shortening their life. They spend their days in a bottle, in fast food and video games. In jobs that suck the joy from their soul. In relationships where they stay busy being harmed or causing harm. They whither away slowly, with hope for an extra day of vacation or an extra hour on the couch as their grand reward for their state of existence. How is this anything less than pathetic and how have we created a culture that makes it so easy to deteriorate to this state?
I don’t want to manipulate the world with a joystick starring into an augmented reality. I want to feel the cold hard rock with my bare hands. I want to bleed and feel and hurt and conquer. Complacency is the worst fate I can imagine…and it will kill you. Fight tooth and nail to avoid it.
Seek.
Seek more.
Seek the upper limits of everything you can do. Whether it’s with your fitness, your fears, your family and friends, your business, your art. Find your top end, then move it forward. Then seek more.
You have not arrived, there is more to find, more to do, more to be.
Explore.
Exert.
Execute.
Evolve.
Onward, Always.
