Training for a 200 miler
Divide 200: Week 13, down week 2
No prescribed miles, no prescribed vert
My final week of being a lazy baby!
After my VERY early initial build period, I just needed a break. I built up to 85 mile weeks running in the depths of winter on sidewalks with no scenery, and my brain just needed a regroup. Spring is finally creeping in, and this final down week, I decided I’d have a little fun, recharge a little more and get ready to rip harder soon.
I think this has been a really nice practice in patience. I started my initial build far too early because I lacked it. I watched a few race videos on YouTube got amped and built my build to start too far out. Now that I’ve recharged a little, it’s time to get to work on the beefier work.
I’m going to start chasing some vert as the alpine melts out the next few weeks. My long run legs feel good, my uphill legs need work, so I’m going to take advantage of my backyard playground and rip up hill, often.
I’m going to document a lot of the big build on my instagram on a day to day basis and give some insights into fueling, recovery etc. So if you want to get more of a behind the scenes look into what a 200 mile spring and summer prep build looks like, follow along there.
No more being a little bitch, time to get to work.
Onward, Always.
